A taxonomic treatment of Drypetes calvescens and a new endangered species from the western Congolian swamp forest, D. palustris sp. nov. (Putranjivaceae)

We publish in this article a new species of tree Drypetes (Putranjivaceae) from the Democratic Republic Congo and Congo, D. palustris, which occurs Western Congolian Swamp Forests ecoregion. It is known eight gatherings we compare it with most similar morphology, calvescens, have studied 51 collected Central Africa. A taxonomic treatment both species, including their detailed descriptions, typification names, comparative table summarizing main morphological differences, an illustration information about habitat distribution are provided. provisional IUCN Red List assessment shows that palustris Endangered calvescens Least Concern.
